The Danajon Bank is also home to hundreds of thousands of people, who depend on it for food and livelihoods. Unfortunately, overfishing, pollution, and development threaten both the future of the ecoyststem and the fishing communities who depend on it for survival. In 2013 the International League of Conservation Photograhers ( ILCP ) sent a group of fotographers to produce a big coverage on the region. Luciano Candisani was part of the team. The project aimed to share the images with the world in order to raise awareness about the threats facing this important ecosystem. The result of the expedition has been and will a powerful photographic legacy that is helping conservationists to push for increased protections for the Danajon Bank, and assist them in preparing its candidacy for UNESCO World Heritage Site designation.
